The T. and E. Dickinson Jewelry Store, established in 1849, was Buffalo's leading jewelry establishment and offered of the most extensive jewelry inventories in the country. On September 17, 1919, the Dickinsons filed plans for a new building at 618-620 Main Street, at an estimated cost of $88,000. The store remained at this location until 1949 when they relocated to Delaware Avenue; the firm remained in business until 1965. Elizabeth married Thomas when she was eighteen. While Thomas worked repairing clocks, Elizabeth used her business acumen to grow the company.
